Principal's Welcome

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Welcome to the 2024-25 School Year!

I am Lori Schlueting, the principal of Mother St. Bride School. As we begin this new school year, our staff reflects on the following story:

Once there was a boy who wanted to learn how to play baseball. He said to his coach, "I want to learn how to swing a bat better so I can get on base." The coach practiced endlessly with him, and now it was game day. The boy stepped up to the plate, hoping to get on base for the first time. The pitcher wound up and threw the ball. Swish! The ball passed the plate, but the boy didn't swing. The umpire called it a strike, and frustration showed on the boy’s face as he looked at the umpire. The second pitch came, and again, the boy didn't swing. Another strike. The boy turned and blamed the umpire for not getting on base. Offering encouragement, the umpire said, "Keep your eye on the ball."

The third pitch came, and for the third time, the boy didn't swing. Strike three. The boy threw down the bat and stomped back to the dugout, blaming the umpire the whole way. The coach then said to him, "You need to swing the bat to get on base. You can’t blame others if you don’t take the chance and swing. You got this! You can do this! Believe in yourself! Let’s break this down..."

Just like in the story, our staff at Mother St. Bride School is dedicated to ensuring our students take chances and grow spiritually, emotionally, academically, and physically. We will set goals and coach your child to meet them. We aim to inspire your child to investigate, create, discuss, and reflect on their learning.

As we continue to focus on student achievement and well-being, we look forward to collaborating with parents/guardians, our parish, and the broader community to support the overall growth of our students. We believe in a team approach and ongoing communication. Therefore, we encourage you to contact us with any questions or contributions to our school community, whether through volunteering (library, field trips, breakfast program, etc.) or joining the Parent Catholic School Advisory Council.

We look forward to working with you throughout the many community events this school year!

Let’s all do our part to make this another successful year of learning and growing together!
